Summer Must Have: On the Go Beauty!

Travel Beauty!

Hi everyone! ¬†How was your weekend? I had a great and relaxing weekend filled with yoga, massage, Pressed Juicery and Urth Caffe goodness. ūüôā

I’m back today with products that are compact and simple to use. ¬†Travel and purse friendly, see what products are great to get when you’re on the go!

Hair and Body

Bumble and bumble Pret-a-Powder

Toss this in your purse to refresh your hair on the go.  The powder quickly blends into the hair, absorbing any excess oil and is perfect if you have bangs that start to stick to your forehead after a few hours.

Davines SU Hair and Body Wash

Streamline your shower routine by using this gender neutral scented item that cleanses skin and hair but won’t leave it feeling stripped.

Spongelle

Included in June’s PopSugar Must Have, you can save time and space with this soap infused body buffer. ¬†Just wet the sponge and enjoy a rich lather that will leaves your skin (and bathroom) lightly scented.

Face

Dermalogica Precleanse Wipes

One of the best makeup remover wipes I have tired, these oil saturated towelettes break up makeup and sunscreen quickly without any harsh tugging or pulling.

Makeup

Fresh Sugar Berry Tinted Lip Treatment SPF 15

Easy to apply, this lip balm requires no mirror, protects lips for the sun and is on trend with this season’s berry lip!

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer (my shade: Light 2 Vanilla)

The doe foot brush and formula conceals imperfections with a few dabs underneath your eyes.

*Note: If you’re concealing blemishes, dab some first onto a clean finger and then apply to affected area to prevent cross contamination.

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil (my shade: Iced Mocha)

Eyeshadow sticks are virtually the foolproof way to apply eyeshadow.  Glide some over the eyelid for day and take it up a notch at night by applying it to the lower lash line along with black eyeliner.

Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting Contour

Featured in my June Favorites, this product sculpts your face with ease, no brush required.

Summer Must Have: Lip Colors!

SMH Lips

Hello readers and welcome to my second installment of my ‘Summer Must Have’ series in which I share products I think are perfect for summer. ¬†Today, it’s all about my favorite lippies! ¬†From neutral to bright, drugstore to high-end, you’re bound to find something you’ll like.

Bite Beauty Luminous Creme Lipstick in Palomino

Love this magenta hued lipstick as it’s richly pigmented and creamy formula applies smoothly. The color will eventually wear off after a few hours especially after drinking or eating but it’ll leave behind a stain.

Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella

Part of the Sephora Beauty Insider birthday gift, this crimson red lip pencil soon became one of my favorites.  The pencil tip allows for a smoother and precise application and the matte formula is comfortable to wear.

NYX High Voltage Lipstick in Rags to Riches

Highly pigmented color and budget friendly, this lipstick is a beautiful pink shade that has a creamy application. Not the longest-wearing shade but it does last a solid 4 hours.

Sonia Kashuk Velvet Matte Lip Crayon in Raspberry Nude

A vibrant berry shade, this lip crayon is very similar to the Nars Matte Velvet Pencil for a fraction of the price:  easy to apply and the matte formula ensures lasting color.

Swatch 1

L-R: Palomino, Cruella, Rags to Riches, Raspberry Nude

Tarte LipSurgence Lip Tint in Moody

This dark berry/plum color can be worn sheer or layered for more intensified color .  It comes in a retractable pencil like form which means you never have to worry about sharpening it and can spend those precious seconds having fun.

Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in Melted Nude

Packaged in a squeeze tube, the soft angled tip allows for easy application and the neutral color is a forgiving shade that can be applied on the go.

Urban Decay Super Saturated High Gloss Lip Color in Punch Drunk

If you want to venture out of your comfort zone and are looking for a lovely orange hue, look no further. Rich, creamy and glossy color, all encapsulated in one pencil.

YSL Rouge Pur Couture Vernis A Levres Glossy Stain in Corail Aquatique

The most luxurious of the bunch, this gorgeous coral pink gloss is speckled with subtle gold shimmer and leaves behind a lovely stain.  The unique applicator has a wider base that deposits color on your lips while the pointed edge makes it easy to get a precise application.

Lip Products Under $10!

Drugstore Lippes!

Hello readers and good morning! ¬†Well, at least on my side of the world it’s morning. ūüôā ¬†Hope all of you are doing well! ¬†I’ve been sick off and on for the past month or so and I feel like this year, it’s been brutal. ¬†I think I’m battling allergies now and I just cannot wait until this is over with. ¬†Anyone else feel the same way?

Any who, on to the task at hand. ¬†Today’s review is all about lip products under $10. ¬†Now, as much as I love my higher end lip products- Bite Beauty and Tom Ford, I’m looking at you- there are some pretty amazing ones at a much more affordable cost. ¬†And let’s face it, when you have great products that don’t cost a lot, you can buy multiple colors and save that money for, ahem, other makeup items. Charlotte Tilbury anyone? ¬†ūüôā

Below are my reviews.

NYX Butter Gloss BLG05 Creme Brulee

NYX Butter Gloss

Described by NYX as “buttery soft and silky smooth, our scrumptious new Butter Lip Gloss tastes as sweet as a sugar cookie‚ÄĒand makes your lips look downright luscious. Swipe it on alone or over your favorite lipstick for creamy sheer to medium coverage that melts onto your lips and is never sticky.”

Pros

Smell nice

Not sticky

Great color selection

Affordable price range

Cons

Not long-lasting (wears off quickly when drinking or eating

Bottom Line: I love these glosses alone or layered underneath lipstick. ¬†The scent isn’t over powering and in my opinion very comparable to some of MAC’s Cremesheen lipglosses at about half the cost.

NYX High Voltage Lipstick HVLS 18 Free Spirit

NYX High Voltage

Described by NYX as amping¬†“up your look with our High Voltage lipstick! Each of the 22 dramatic shades is infused with vibrant color with a super-rich finish!

Pros

Highly pigmented

Affordable cost

Slightly moisturizing

Cons

Can be a bit drying as time goes on

Has a tendency to accentuate fine lines/dry lips

Bottom Line: A great item from NYX if you’re looking for excellent color payoff. ¬†Color begins to fade a bit while eating or drinking but leaves behind a good stain. ¬†Exfoliating lips prior to use is a must though to avoid it clinging to any dry patches.

Milani Color Statement Moisture Matte Innocence

Milani

Described by Milani as “the matte that not only feels great (yes, you read that right ‚Äď it‚Äôs actually comfy) but also lasts for hours and has ‚Äúa-mazing Instagram selfie‚ÄĚ written all over it. Infused with grape seed extract imported from Italy, this smear-proof lip soother delivers mega color that won‚Äôt budge, even after a close encounter with a cappuccino cup.”

Pros

Affordable

Feels creamy upon application

Lasts a decent amount of time

Great color selection

Cons

This shade is pretty light so I need multiple layers to get coverage

Accentuates fine lines/dry lips

Bottom Line: This shade looks best when paired with a lipgloss. ¬†It lasts better than most lipsticks through drinking but I wouldn’t classify this is long-lasting. ¬†The texture is very unique and very similar (if not identical) to Maybelline Mattes. ¬†Feels creamy upon application instead ¬†of the usual dry texture most mattes have but not exactly moisturizing. ¬†Exfoliating lips is a must prior to use.

NYX Matte Lipstick MLS 05 Indie Flick

NYX Matte

Described by NYX as¬†“highly pigmented, richly formulated and long-wearing. The formula glides on smoothly and stays put with a non-drying matte finish.‚ÄĚ

Pros

Highly pigmented

Excellent staying power

Affordable price

Cons

Drying

Accentuates fine lines, dry lips

Bottom Line: I bought this lipstick after seeing it on Janet from Jan and Jot¬†and I am so glad I did. ¬†Not only is a gorgeous shade-perfect for spring and summer-but it is immensely pigmented and very long lasting. I do find this more on the drying side though, so sometimes I’ll sheer it out with lip balm underneath and make sure to exfoliate lips beforehand.

Rimmel London Kate Moss

Rimmel London

Described by Rimmel as “Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Matte Collection Lipstick gives the gorgeous color richness and comfort of Kate’s lipstick, now in a velvety, matte finish. Ruby powder-enriched formula intensifies the color while keeping a matte finish all day long.”

Pros

Highly pigmented

Very affordable

Leaves behind a stain

Long-lasting

Cons

Feels drying after a while

Settles into fine lines/accentuates dry lips

Prominent scent that lingers

Bottom Line: Another product I bought after I saw it on Chanelle Hayley from Chanelle Hayleyyy¬†. The color is beautiful and sophisticated and I love the staying power.¬† I do not mind the scent at all, sort of floral mixed with berries, but it is strong and you can definitely smell it while you’re wearing it; it does fade after a while though.

Maybelline Color Sensational Summer Sunset

Maybelline

Described by Maybelline as “crisper color from pure pigments; creamier feel from nourishing honey nectar;¬†lipcolor so rich, so stunning‚Ķit‚Äôs sensational.”

Pros

Highly pigmented

Long-lasting

Affordable

Extensive shade selection

Cons

Feels a little bit waxy

Not as hydrating as it claims

Can feel a bit drying at times

Clings to dry patches

Bottom Line: I do like these but I will be honest and say I am not fond of the texture.  It feels a bit too waxy to me as opposed to creamy but using a lip balm underneath helps.  Worn alone it has great staying power and there are so many shades to choose from.

Below are the colors swatched and make sure to follow me on Instagram to see more pictures and looks using these colors. ūüôā

Purple Evening Look!

Steph Purple

A simple and pretty makeup look that enhances your eye color and is perfect for a night out!

Face

Foundation: Use your favorite foundation, tinted moisturizer or powder. (Smashbox Liquid Halo HD Foundation in 2)

Bronzer: I chose a  matte bronzer but shimmer can work too  (Too Faced Chocolate Soleil)

Blush:  Soft pink color  (Nars Blush in Douceur)

Eyes

Highlight: A light beige color on the lid

Contour: A medium brown on the crease

*I used a neutral palette for the highlight and contour colors so I don’t have specific shade names*

Inner Corner Lid: A shimmery silver color (NYX Eyeshadow in Snow Candy)

Lid:  A purple color on the lid  (Lancome Color Design Eyeshadow in Drama)

Liner:  I used black eyeliner to line both the lashline and waterline (Cailyn Line-Fix Gel Eyeliner in Black (top) and Urban Decay 24/7 Velvet Glide-On Eye Pencil in Black Velvet (bottom)).  Then, I used a small angled brush to smudge the same purple eyeshadow  I used on the lids (Drama) to the bottom lashline.

Mascara: Black mascara (Make Up For Ever Smoky Extravagant)

Lips

A  berry shade (Tarte LipSurgence Natural Lip Tint in Moody)

Purple Makeup

You can make this look a bit more dramatic by adding false eyelashes and rocking a red lip or tone it down by using a nude lip color.

Happy Tuesday!
