I have quick reviews on two popular makeup and skincare to share today so let’s get to it. 🙂
Too Faced Born This Way Foundation
Described as “an oil-free foundation for natural-looking, full coverage and a beautiful, radiant finish.” It also boasts ingredients like coconut water, hyaluronic acid and alpine rose.
Pros
Feels light-weight on the skin
Easily applies to the skin
Was a good color match
Buildable coverage
Cons
Tends to separate on skin giving a peeling skin illusion
Emphasized my pores/imperfections
No noticeable hydration
Overall I loved this foundation when I first tried it on in store as the color was a perfect match and you couldn’t tell I was wearing makeup; it also felt very light on the face. Fast forward to half an hour later and my face was a patchy, oily mess. Whether I use primer or not, exfoliate the day before or use a setting spray, nothing helps the appearance. It makes my face look like it is peeling. Sadly, this didn’t work out for me but I do think it’s worth a try just to see how it works for you.
Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip Cleanser
Described as a “cleanser purifies the skin, tightens pores, and supports natural collagen and circulation with natural essential oils to tone and balance the skin. It detoxifies, minimizes pore size, and helps you achieve a flawless, ‘ceramic-smooth’complexion.”

Overall I can’t really find anything good to say about this cleanser except that it does effectively remove oil. My face felt extremely dry and sort of prune-like afterwards and I couldn’t stand the smell. This cleanser contains black pepper and that scent is very prominent here. It doesn’t foam but because it contains clay, this helps draw out sebum from the skin. Definitely not an everyday cleanser so in my opinion, skip this one and save your money.

That foundation seems to be hit & miss for a lot of people. Some with oily skin get a good result while others don’t. I’m oily in my t-zone so I use a mattifying primer as well as a pore filler on my nose and for the most part it stays put for me. After a few hours it starts breaking down a little at the very top of my nose, but I bring a tiny bottle of extra with me (gotta love those Sephora samples!) and I’m good after a quick touch up.
I used this with the MUFE primer and it was a disaster. Yes, I’ve had foundations kind of break down before but this looked like I was peeling. I even tried to apply a bit more foundation and nope. Nothing worked. 😦 Yes, I love those Sephora samples-they come in handy. 🙂
So crazy how this foundation is.
I heard about that first foundation from an oily skinned youtuber! Sucks that it became peely on you.
I really wished it worked but alas I tried everything and nothing helped. They can’t all work for everyone. 😦
Great reviews! I did too notice that Born This Way gives a peeling skin illusion so I stopped using it. It looked that way on my forehead & nose.

Thanks Aimee. Yes, exactly! I made the mistake of wearing this out somewhere and when I got in the car I was mortified. It was too late to go back and take it off so I tried patting it in with a makeup sponge I had and nope. I had to deal with that appearance for the day. 😦
Ahhhh I’ve wanted to try this from Too Faced! That’s not good that it peeled on you. It’s like a mask.
Yup, I’d like to keep my skincare separate from my makeup please, lol. At least not the mask part. If you do try it, let me know how it works for you.

I returned this foundation for all of the cons you listed! It made me an oily mess and I have dry skin 😦
It was a flop for me and a lot of people have told me the same. 😔 Good that you were able to return it because it’s pricey.
Ugh, I really wanted to hear that the foundation was everything it claims to be. I’ve read mixed reviews and I really want to try it but it’s so darn expensive.
I think you will have to try it for yourself. Most people I know have not had a good experience but Amy from the Makeup Case loves it.
I really didn’t like this foundation either. I think it’s so funny how it works for some and not at all for others!
Yes, I heard some people really love it but it was a flop for me. Sorry it didn’t work out for you either.
That’s okay. I ended up giving it to my friend and of course it works great with her skin type! So it all worked out! 🙂

Ah, so good to see you on here!! You’ve been missed but I know it’s been hectic for you. Yes, so sad about the Too Faced Foundation but well they can’t all be winners right. Yes the Rimmel one is great! I use it here and there and it photographs nicely. 🙂

A while back I also picked up a sample of the Too Faced Born This Way Foundation, and the color match was perfect, I loved the way it sat on my skin, it looked beautiful, and was super comfortable. But it must have an ingredient that doesn’t work to well with my skin, I started getting breakouts, which is not normal for me. So sad it didn’t work out for me too 😦 But I’m still on the hunt for a new foundation! Maybe the Nars Sheer Glow or the Estée Lauder Double Wear. Kisses**
Oh, that sucks. 😦 I’ve heard great things about the Nars and Estee Lauder foundations so here’s to hoping they work out for you. I think you’d really like Make Up For Ever Face and Body Foundation as it is super light-weight and looks so natural on the skin. I loved it until I had a little bit of a reaction to it. An ingredient made my nose itch. Also, Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua is a personal favorite of mine too. 🙂

Thanks! Finding the right one is probably easy, but finding the right shade is the harder part, especially in my country (which for some reason only stocks dark skin tones). I’ll probably have to risk ordering it online :). Luckily there are some many reviews and videos online! Kisses**
Yes, the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua has a limited range but I think you would be okay with the shade 20. That’s my shade and it added a tiny bit of color while still looking natural. Best of luck. 🙂
